 Basic Catholic prayers



The Ten Commandments

  1. I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me.
  2. You shall not take the name of the Lord, God in vain.
  3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's day.
  4. Honour your father and your mother.
  5. You shall not kill.
  6. You shall not commit adultery.
  7. You shall not steal.
  8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbours.
  9. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife.
  10. You shall not covet your neighbour's goods.

The important precepts of the Church

  1. To participate in mass on sundays and holy days of obligation.
  2. To confess our sins at least once a year.
  3. To recieve worthily the Holy Communion at least once a year especially at Easter time.
  4. To fast and abstain on the days prescribed.
  5. To contribute to the support of our church in its works.
  6. To observe the canonical laws of the church concerning marriage.
